Over here is a basic introduction on how to save energy:D
Some tips on how to save energy:D
- Turn off all electrical devices when they are not in use - that's the television, the video, the DVD player, the stereo, the computer, and so on.
- Turn down the thermostat a little - you'll survive even if you need to wear slighter warmer clothing.
- Insulate your home - lots of heat is lost through the roof and walls.
- Use less hot water - for instance, have a shower rather than bath, install a low flow showerhead, and wash clothes in cold or warm water.
- Replace a regular incandescent light bulb with a compact fluorescent light bulb (CFL) - CFLs use 60% less energy than a regular bulb.
- Use a clothes line rather than a tumble dryer - it might take a little longer, but it's kinder to the environment.
- Recycle more - paper, glass, tins, vegetable waste, garden cuttings can all be recycled.
- Avoid products with a lot of packing - you'll only throw it away.
- Keep your tyres properly inflated - proper inflation can improve petrol mileage by more than 3%.
- Drive less - walk, cycle or use public transport when you can.
- Fly less - use the train when you can.
- Try to travel less - for instance, use teleconferencing in your work.
- Setting your thermostat
- Lower the thermostat on your hot water heater to 120 degrees farenheit.
- Follow the full load guideline. Never use the dishwasher or washing machine unless it houses a full load.
- Plug your electronics into power strips. When turning off these electronics, power down using the power strip to prevent stand-by mode from drawing electricity unnecessarily.
- Turn off your computer and monitor when they are not being used. Contrary to popular beliefs, turning them on and off will not cause damage. If you are away from your computer at different intervals, make sure you have set the power save options
- Air dry dishes rather than using the heated drying cycle.
- Wash clothes in cold water. This not only reduces hot water usage, but it is better for your clothing as well.
- Use compact fluorescent bulbs to light your home. Not only do these bulbs use less energy, but they last longer than traditional bulbs.
- Take short showers instead of baths

Conserving energy does not mean changing your lifestyle drastically. You do not need to read under moonlight or take cold showers just to save electricity at home. Instead, energy conservation today is all about energy efficiency: doing the same things with just a fraction of the energy. It is about
doing more with less.
